This in-home newborn photography session in their new home in Victoria was so special. Not only were they just settling into a new home and a new city, but they were growing from a family of three to a family of four!
The first few weeks with a new baby can be such a whirlwind. I can honestly barely remember them with my boys. That’s why capturing these moments are so important to me. Capturing your first few weeks as a family, in the home you brought them home to the first day, the bed that you spent the sleepless nights in, the soft light as it comes through your windows, and the way you naturally hold your baby and spend time as a family. These are the moments and places that are so meaningful and real. When you look back at your images in 20 years, you won’t just see the memories, you will be brought back to that moment and almost be able to feel the way it felt when your little one wrapped their tiny fingers around yours, or the way their head smelled the first few months, and the way their sibling fell into their role as an older sibling. These are the moments that will take you back in time years from now.
An Artful & Relaxed In-Home Newborn Experience
One of the things I love most about in-home newborn sessions is the opportunity to create photographs that are both beautiful and authentically personal. There is something special about documenting a family in the space where so many of their everyday memories are being made. My approach combines gentle direction with room for moments to unfold naturally. I pay attention to the light, the composition and the little details that make an image feel like art, while keeping the experience relaxed and comfortable. You don’t need to know how to pose or worry about what to do in front of the camera. I’ll guide you throughout the session, creating a thoughtful balance of timeless portraits and authentic moments that feel true to your family.
Leading up to the session, I support you every step of the way. We hold your spot based on your due-date, and book your session date once your little one arrives. Ideal timing is 1.5-3 weeks of age, but in-home sessions are very flexible and there is no rush to do them before you are ready. Before your baby arrives, I send your prep guide, questionnaire, and we book your 1:1 zoom planning call so that I can answer any questions that you may have and help your session go seamlessly. Although the first few weeks of newborn life can be overwhelming, your photography session doesn’t have to feel that way. It’s a time to slow down, reflect, and connect with your new little family member.
Photographs That Will Bring You Back in Time
I think some of the most meaningful photographs are the ones that bring you back to how a particular season of life felt. The way your newborn fits so naturally in your arms, the familiar spaces of your home and the connection you’re building as a family. These are details that become part of your family’s story, even as the years pass and life begins to look a little different. My hope is always to create photographs that you love for their beauty today, but that become even more meaningful with time. Images that feel honest, artful and unmistakably yours.

I am a wife, a friend, and a mother to my two beautiful boys; we have two playful pups named Charlie & Finnegan. We live in Victoria on Vancouver Island and love to explore the beautiful landscapes. Aside from photography, I am also a Registered Nurse. Every piece of my life has taught me that connection makes this world truly beautiful, and this belief inspires my work. I want to capture the raw connection and those real, messy imperfect moments in a beautifully artistic way. When we look back years from now, these images will evoke our emotions and remind us what that precious time in our lives truly felt like.
