What are the best locations for photography sessions in the Lower Mainland?
Pitt Lake- Pitt Meadows, BC
One of the most scenic locations for photography sessions in the Lower Mainland is Pitt Lake. It has stunning mountain views and is surrounded by water. You can take a walk down the gravel paths, play in the grassy fields, or dance on the road leading up to the location. Every way you turn, there is a new backdrop to be found. Despite the fact that this is one of the busiest locations on the list, it is still a fan favorite for photography sessions.
Mud Bay Park, Lower Mainland, BC
This is actually my favorite location for any type of session. Mud Bay Park is a little less busy than some of the other locations, and has a lot of room to move around. This leads to more natural, storytelling images. When the tide is out, you can explore the tide pools for miles. There are wild flowers and long grassy fields, and the sunset is unmatched. If you are looking for beautiful golden images like these, golden hour is essential. Golden hour is the hour before the sun sets and can be quite late for families during the long summer days.
Alouette Lake, Maple Ridge , BC
Alouette Lake is absolutely magical. It is a gem in the middle of the city. You can stroll beneath the old growth forest or have a picnic on the beach. The views are unmatched. But if you are looking for spectacular views and beautiful calm waters, you will have to go for a bit of a walk. This location is about a 20 minute walk but is mostly flat. If you have little kids, I suggest bringing a carrier or a wagon as their little legs may get tired on the way home.
Blackie Spit Park, Surrey BC
Blackie Spit Park is a beautiful park in White Rock, BC. This Lower Mainland location has it all. From long golden grasses to sandy beaches, you and your family can enjoy an adventure while I tag along and capture it. When the tide is out, you can explore tide pools and collect shells. This park can be quite busy, and parking can be a challenge on the weekends, so be sure to arrive early to get a spot.
Campbell Valley Park, Langley, BC
This park located in South Langley, BC is a beautiful and simple location. It is one of the largest parks in the Lower Mainland. You can explore and play in the tall grass, or walk along the paths among the trees. You can’t beat the lighting during sunset at Campbell Valley Park. The tall trees make it a good option to start a little earlier if you have little ones who have an early bed time. This park is also dog-friendly, but be sure to keep them on a leash as there are also horse trails throughout the park.
Your own home!
What is more natural than the comfort of your own home? If you are looking for natural images of you and your family doing day to day activities, in-home sessions can be perfect. You can bake cookies, play in the garden, snuggle on the couch or ride bikes in your driveway! There are no rules when it comes to in-home sessions. If you aren’t sure what activities you should include, don’t worry, I will be there every step of the way to plan!
These are just a few of the beautiful photography locations that we have in the Lower Mainland. If you have an idea or are looking for something specific that you haven’t seen on this list, don’t be afraid to reach out! I am always up for a fun unique location!
